BROADWAY, N.C. (AP) - Two men have been charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed two North Carolina teens last year and left a third seriously injured.

Local media outlets report Friday 21-year-old Davis Christian Stewart and 20-year-old Donald Conrad Crounse each face charges including hit-and-run causing death and obstruction of justice.

Troopers say the teens had just bought drinks at a convenience store in Broadway one night in January 2016 and were walking home when they were hit. Authorities say 13-year-old Jennifer Schark and 16-year-old Kyle Straight were pronounced dead at the scene. Fourteen-year-old Steven Daniels was critically injured.

Sgt. Michael Baker of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol says Crounse was jailed in Harnett County and Stewart was in California, awaiting extradition to North Carolina. It wasn’t known if they had attorneys.
