LOXLEY, Ala. (AP) - Crowds are turning out for the 30th annual Baldwin County Strawberry Festival.

The weekend festival, held in Loxley since 1987, opened Saturday morning with a 5k race. The even runs through Sunday with live music, carnival game an antique auto show. More than a dozen food vendors are on hand as visitors tuck into the festival’s signature dish - strawberry shortcake.

The festival at Loxley Municipal Park is held to raise money for Loxley Elementary School and the ARC of Baldwin County, which provides services to people with developmental disabilities. Organizers say the festival raises about $48,000 each year.
