ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man accused of killing his girlfriend late last year has been indicted on a murder charge.

The indictment against Emmanuel Dike was recently handed up by a Union County grand jury. The 22-year-old Hillside man has pleaded not guilty and remains jailed on $1 million bail.

Dike is accused of killing 20-year-old Jersey City resident Christa Capers. She was found unresponsive in Dike’s apartment on Oct. 20 after someone there called police.

Capers was pronounced dead there a short time later. But authorities have not disclosed a cause of death.

Several law enforcement agencies quickly began an intensive search for Dike that spanned several states. It culminated a week later when a Hillside police officer saw Dike’s vehicle in the parking lot of a Newark hotel.
