PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say they’ve rescued two women hurt in separate incidents Sunday along the mountains in Arizona.

The Phoenix fire department said the first woman appeared to have broken her leg while hiking Piestewa Peak. She had lost her balance and fell while about a third of the way up the mountain.

She was in extreme pain and crying out when helicopter crews reached her. The 31-year-old woman received intravenous pain medications and was taken to a hospital trauma center.

The fire department also said it rescued a 36-year-old woman biking with her husband at South Mountain.
