NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Authorities in Delaware say three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash near Newark.

Delaware State Police say the crash happened Wednesday afternoon on State Route 1. State Police say traffic slowed suddenly because of debris in the roadway but the driver of a Dodge Ram was unable to stop and struck the rear of a BMW. A driver traveling behind the Dodge Ram then struck the Dodge Ram, causing it to flip over.

Delaware State Police say the driver of the Dodge Ram has non-life-threatening injuries and was cited for following too closely. Delaware State Police identified him as 39-year-old Alfonzo Cruz of Elkton, Maryland.

State Police say the drivers of the two other vehicles were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
