CLINTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say an inmate who died after being found unresponsive in his Clinton County Jail cell had been charged with killing his parents.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday that an officer found 18-year-old Gavin Glasz early Sunday morning. Glasz was hanging by a sheet tied to cell bars. The office says officers and paramedics performed CPR but were unable to revive him.

He’d been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 51-year-old Brian Paul Glasz and 54-year-old Michelle Renee Glasz. Their bodies were found June 13 at their DeWitt home.

Authorities say the bodies were wrapped in blankets and that they had died of “multiple sharp force injuries” and strangulation. Brian Glasz also had suffered blows to his head.
