America deserves answers from Democrats on whether high-level Obama administration officials abused intelligence to spy on President Trump’s people during the 2016 campaign.

Last May, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Devin Nunes, subpoenaed the unmasking requests from Samantha Power, President Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations, former CIA director John Brennan and former National Security Adviser Susan Rice. Then the committee also asked for the same unmasking records for Ben Rhodes, Mr. Obama’s deputy national security adviser, who last year boasted to media how he lied and manipulated people to get Mr. Obama’s nuclear deal approved.

But the Democrats tried to dismiss Mr. Nunes’ requests and block the investigation by accusing him of leaking classified data. Democratic activist groups including MoveOn.org filed complaints with the House Ethics Committee, and rather than resolve their politically driven complaints, tried to create controversy to keep a cloud over Mr. Nunes and the whole investigation.

Americans deserve answers from the Democrats and certainly need to find out about any Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election. More importantly, however, if the Democrats were violating laws and using the National Security Agency and Central Intelligence Agency assets to harm and destroy the Trump election, it must be addressed and violators must be brought to justice.
