HOLLIS, Maine (AP) - State police say a motorcyclist is dead following a crash in Maine.

The motorcyclist failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a tree late Saturday night in Hollis. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

He’s been identified as 45-year-old Edward Stanhope, of Windham. His motorcycle went off the road at a curve before the crash. Troopers say speed and alcohol are likely factors in the crash.

The Bureau of Highway Safety says this is the 11th motorcycle fatality this year.
