CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A man was found dead of a gunshot wound in a North Carolina city, the third such death this week.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a news release that a caller reported finding a man with a gunshot wound on Thursday. Officers located the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

On Monday, police said 25-year-old Joshua Schulman died after a violent home invasion and robbery. Two days later, 32-year-old Julian Anthony Harris was shot and killed by a security guard during what police say was an attempted robbery at an arcade.

The Charlotte Observer reports the latest death raises the number of homicides in the city during 2017 to 61.
