EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Authorities arrested an Oregon woman who they say collided with another vehicle while fleeing a sheriff’s deputy, killing the other driver.
According to Eugene police, 20-year-old Brandi Lee Gonzales of Eugene was driving the wrong way on a one-way street when the crash occurred Thursday. She and a passenger ran away, but were captured about 45 minutes later.
Officers tried to save the motorist - 52-year-old Eran Jacob Schlesinger - but he was dead when medics arrived.
Gonzales has been charged with manslaughter, driving under the influence and other crimes. Her passenger, Colby Jongeward, faces a charge of interfering with a peace officer and a parole violation.
The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/MfY6GN) the two have been arrested together at least twice before in the past couple of years.
