CAPE NEDDICK, Maine (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash of a seaplane off the Maine coast.

York police say the pilot was the only person aboard the plane that crashed shortly after taking off from “a large luxury boat” Friday afternoon. The pilot was not hurt.

WMTW-TV (https://bit.ly/2vxx3iP ) reports the boat was anchored off of Short Sands Beach when the plane took off. The plane experienced mechanical problems and the pilot landed on the water.

The seaplane was towed back to the boat.
