NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City man convicted of killing two brothers who tried to break up a fight in 2015 will spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.

Wayne Thomas was sentenced Monday during an emotional hearing on Staten Island.

Wendy Ford talked about the heartbreak of losing her sons - 28-year-old Justin Ford and 27-year-old Terrell Ford - before rushing out of the courtroom in tears.

According to the Staten Island Advance (https://bit.ly/2xH7ZaE ), Assistant District Attorney Natalie Barros called Thomas, who has a prior manslaughter conviction, a “sociopath.”

He was paroled on Oct. 7, 2014, less than a year before the brothers were shot.

Thomas says he didn’t kill the Fords. He is appealing his first-degree murder conviction.
