SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A jail inmate in South Carolina has died and state police are investigating what led to her death.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office told local media outlets that 43-year-old Sandra Doris Rogers of Reidville was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center on Thursday and died around 6 p.m. Friday.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said an autopsy showed no signs of foul play, so more detailed tests are being conducted to determine the cause of death.

It was not immediately known why she had been in jail.

The state Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death.
