AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A judge has denied a man’s bid for a new trial for the 1983 death of a Maine woman after the state crime lab reported errors in DNA calculations.

The Kennebec Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2wVfMoG ) Thomas Mitchell Jr. sought a new hearing after the crime lab sent a letter saying there were concerns with DNA calculations.

Court records show a forensic DNA analyst found there was no change in the DNA conclusions after a recalculation of the evidence used in Mitchell’s trial.
