Man accidentally shoots himself while cleaning gun

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man accidentally shot himself in the hand while cleaning his gun.

The News-Press reports that the 33-year-old man was cleaning his .40 caliber pistol at his Bonita Springs home Monday evening. He told a Lee County deputy that he had been using a new holster when the firearm discharged and hit him in the web portion of his left hand.

The man called 911 and was taken to a Naples hospital in stable condition.
