DENVER (AP) - Officials say the body found in an elevator shaft in a Denver apartment complex was an 82-year-old man who went missing in early July.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/2ws20pj ) the building manager alerted the Denver Fire Department Monday morning about the body. Tenants had smelled a foul odor in the building where the body was discovered.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Isaak Komisarchik. The cause of death is pending.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System had posted a missing person’s bulletin for Komisarchik on July 5.
