PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A Pierre man who stole numerous items including his grandfather’s pants to support a drug habit has been sentenced to five years of probation.

Authorities accused 27-year-old Logan Jacobs of a crime spree last year in which he stole guitars, tools, money and even his grandfather’s pants to search the pockets for money.

He was given a 15-year suspended prison sentence on Tuesday and ordered to make restitution.

Judge John Brown called the pants theft “so offensive, at a gut level.”
