A liberal group is calling on Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota and Rep. John Conyers of Michigan to resign in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against both men.

Democracy for America said the liberal progressive movement must lead the charge against sexual violence and harassment because the political “right” has refused to do so.

“We believe the multiple women who have bravely shared their stories about the behavior of Representative John Conyers and Senator Al Franken, and we strongly feel that both men have a moral obligation to hold themselves accountable for their misconduct and resign from office,” DFA said in a statement. “The right, which is led by serial sexual assault perpetrator Donald Trump and has tried to excuse child predator Roy Moore, has less than zero credibility in any effort to end our culture’s long-running pandemic of sexual violence and harassment.”

Allegations of sexual harassment have roiled Capitol Hill and also have shaken up the special election Senate race in Alabama, where Mr. Moore has been accused of sexual predatory behavior.

GOP leaders have called on Mr. Moore to leave the race, but he has refused to do so.

Meanwhile, Mr. Conyers, through his lawyer, has said he will not bow to pressure from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, alifornia Democrat, who has called on him to resign.

Mr. Franken has apologized for his action, and said he intends to prove to his constituents that he is an advocate for women.
