President Trump celebrated the Senate passage Saturday morning of the GOP’s more than $1.4 trillion tax cuts bill, saying “great Republicans” are on schedule to give the package final approval by Christmas.

The Senate passed the bill in a 51-49 vote early Saturday morning, with every Democrat and one Republican opposing the tax plan.

“Biggest Tax Bill and Tax Cuts in history just passed in the Senate. Now these great Republicans will be going for final passage. Thank you to House and Senate Republicans for your hard work and commitment!” the president wrote on Twitter.

He singled out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch for praise.

“We are one step closer to delivering MASSIVE tax cuts for working families across America. Special thanks to @SenateMajLdr Mitch McConnell and Chairman @senorrinhatch for shepherding our bill through the Senate. Look forward to signing a final bill before Christmas!” he wrote.

The House passed its version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act last month. The two bill must be reconciled before going to final votes in both chambers.
