CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Two men have been arrested in the shooting death of a convenience store clerk in North Carolina largest city earlier this month.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Lt. Andrew Harris said in a news release both suspects were arrested Tuesday.
Police said Khaled Mohamad Elmerkabaoui was working alone when he was killed in a robbery attempt Dec. 9.
Harris said one of the suspects, 29-year-old Treyonte Luwanna Lockhart, was seen Tuesday morning but refused to stop. He was chased to Concord were he was arrested and charged with murder, armed robbery and possession a stolen gun.
Harris says 44-year-old Geoffrey Ford was seen Tuesday night and arrested after he ran from a vehicle. Ford is charged with murder, armed robbery and conspiracy.
It was not known if Lockhart and Ford have attorneys yet.
