FINCASTLE, Va. (AP) - A church treasurer who stole $99,000 earmarked for the needy and spent it instead on a beach vacation and other items is headed to prison.

The Roanoke Times reports that Stephanie Everett was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday in Botetourt County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors said Everett stole money from Cave Rock Baptist Church in Troutville for years, using it for things like Virginia Tech football tickets and a vacation in South Carolina.

Everett apologized in court for her actions.
