CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) - A New Hampshire medical center has settled a medical malpractice lawsuit for $2 million with the family of a Vermont high school athlete who died in 2014.

The Valley News reports Gary and Bethanne Tillotson, of Bradford, Vermont, filed the lawsuit against Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 2016. The family alleges physicians were “grossly inaccurate” in their review of their son’s kidney ultrasound, which led to his death.

Seventeen-year-old Sean Tillotson died after suffering a pulmonary embolism-type event on the way to a leadership conference.

While neither party released details on the settlement in September, court records filed Nov. 6 revealed the dollar amounts.

Hospital officials denied the Tillotsons’ claims in the lawsuit and declined to comment on the settlement.
