NEWFIELD, Maine (AP) - A Maine man who police say was shot by his sister over a financial dispute has been upgraded to stable condition.
York County Sheriff William King Jr. says police responded to a Newfield home Monday morning for reports of a person shot. Officers found 29-year-old Joshua Gochie with one gunshot wound to his stomach.
King says the man had showed up to the home uninvited, and an argument with his 34-year-old sister escalated into the shooting.
Gochie remains hospitalized at Maine Medical Center.
Police say they do not plan on pressing charges, but an investigation is ongoing.
