HAWTHORNE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida man driving a dump truck was killed when he backed into the path of a train.

The Gainesville Sun reports that the crash occurred Wednesday morning in Hawthorne.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 59-year-old Terry Owens was pulling out of a private driveway that intersects a set of railroad tracks when the CSX train hit the truck’s left side.

Owens was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported on the train.
