YORK, S.C. (AP) - A gang member who received probation for his role in the 2014 shooting death of a city councilman in South Carolina has been charged with violating probation.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports Lancaster County deputies charged 23-year-old DeAngelo Roseboro on Dec. 7 with unlawful carrying of a pistol. South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services spokesman Pete O’Boyle says Roseboro was arrested Wednesday.

O’Boyle says Roseboro also tested positive for marijuana and failed to pay probation fees and fines.

Roseboro took a deal in which he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and testified against the shooter of Odell Williams. He received a suspended five-year prison sentence that could now be revoked.

Williams was gunned down in November 2014 after a chase with gang members.
