COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A Georgia man has died from injuries after he was shot and wounded in the parking lot of a South Carolina fast food restaurant.

Richland County sheriff’s deputies were called to a McDonald’s restaurant in northeast Columbia around 4 a.m. Friday.

Coroner Gary Watts said a man who had been shot in the chest following an argument was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he died about an hour later. Watts said the victim was 30-year-old James K. Copeland III of Cumming, Georgia.

Media outlets reported that sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested a suspect in the shooting. The person’s name or the charges have not yet been released.

There was no word yet on what sparked the argument.
