MILWAUKEE (AP) - A suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Milwaukee school crossing guard is awaiting extradition from California.

Police say 35-year-old Terrence Harris, of Milwaukee, was arrested in Lodi, California, on Thursday on a warrant from Milwaukee police. He’s charged with hit-and-run causing death and causing death while operating a vehicle with a revoked license.

Seventy-one-year-old Andrew Tyler was hit as he walked to his post at Kluge Elementary School on Nov. 10. He died Dec. 7 of complications from his injuries.

Police first arrested Harris Nov. 21 on a bus to Chicago, but released him when prosecutors determined they needed more evidence.

Online court records don’t list an attorney who could comment on Harris’ behalf.

Police say they plan to begin the extradition process in the coming days.
