ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police in Albuquerque on Friday shot a man who attempted a carjacking at gunpoint in front of officers.

Eastbound San Antonio Drive is closed from the Interstate 25 frontage road to San Pedro Drive while police investigate.

Albuquerque police spokesman Fred Duran said that a bonding company that was serving arrest warrants on a suspect called police for help after they “lost control of him.”

Police arrived and found the suspect was trying to carjack someone at gunpoint. Police then fired their weapons, shooting, but not killing, the suspect.

Police haven’t identified the suspect but say it’s a man who was wanted for felony burglary.

No officers were seriously injured.
