WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Police in Winston-Salem say a man faces several charges, including misdemeanor death by vehicle, following a crash that killed a stranded motorist.

A statement from Winston-Salem police on Friday says 27-year-old Song Li of Durham was also charged with failing to keep his car in the proper travel lane and failing to move his car over when passing a stopped police car with its blue lights on.

According to police, Li’s car struck the rear of a police cruiser after the officer driving it had stopped on U.S. 421 on the west side of city on Wednesday to help a stranded motorist. The cruiser was pushed forward, and it struck and killed 60-year-old Marcus Kent Hayes.
