CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) - Police say a New Jersey woman was robbed by three men posing as city employees.

Officials tell the Record (https://bit.ly/2kOEq1z ) that a Clifton woman invited two suspects into her home who said they were City of Clifton employees sent to check water valves. Police say the men acted like they were checking faucets before leading the woman into her basement.

Officials say a third suspect entered the house and stole jewelry from a second floor bedroom while the homeowner was downstairs with the two other suspects.

Police urge residents to verify the identities of individuals trying to gain access to their homes.
