DERWOOD, Md. (AP) - Police say a Montgomery County employee has been arrested after stealing more $13,000 worth of county equipment and selling it on the black market.

WJLA-TV reports that (https://bit.ly/2keKinJ ) 31-year-old Jason “Colt” White has charged with theft and released on bond.

Police say White was a program specialist at the country’s Fleet Management Services facility. A tipster notified police that White was selling equipment such as salt spreaders and car batteries on the black market. Police say they recorded video of him loading about $13,000 worth of county salt spreaders into a trailer.

Montgomery County Spokesman Patrick Lacefield says White is on administrative leave but will earn a paycheck while the case is pending.

A number was not listed for White and it wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
