State police in Allegheny County said the woman crashed on the Kirwan Heights exit of the southbound lanes of Interstate 79 shortly before 7 p.m. Friday.

Police said she exited the vehicle and was trying to cross the interstate when she was hit by a vehicle in the left lane.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said 40-year-old Katie Musick of Mount Lebanon was pronounced dead at the scene.
