MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - The driver in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Long Island two years ago faces up to seven years in prison after jurors convicted him of leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/2lFEZ0P ) Wilkens Thelusma, of Farmingdale, was convicted last week in the October 2015 crash in Baldwin that left 28-year-old Rick Munoz dead.

The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office says Thelusma’s sentencing is scheduled for late April.

Authorities say Munoz crashed a box truck into the center median of the Southern State Parkway and was walking in the lanes of travel when he was hit by an SUV.

Police found debris at the scene and traced the vehicle to Thelusma’s home.

Authorities say the damaged SUV was parked behind a fence in the driveway.
