STONY HILL, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of a suburban New York woman who was hit by a vehicle she had just exited.

Officials say 25-year-old Ashley Badenchini, of Stony Point, was hit by a pickup truck she had just stepped out of around 2 a.m. Sunday in her Rockland County hometown. Badenchini was transported to Westchester Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

Stony Point police say the driver of the truck stayed on the scene of the accident. Investigators tell the Journal News (https://lohud.us/2ksjStQ) that Badenchini knew the driver but police aren’t releasing the person’s name.

No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
