TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of killing his girlfriend at their Tucson home was fatally shot an hour later by Pima County sheriff’s deputies during a robbery call at a convenience store.

The Tucson Police Department says 26-year-old Manuel Encinas killed 26-year-old Christine Betancourt early Sunday.

Police say a relative of Betancourt was told by Encinas that Encinas was going to kill Betancourt.

Officers arrived at the home to find Betancourt’s body.

Encinas surfaced an hour later during an armed robbery call at the store.

Once officers arrived, Encinas ordered a store employee to leave the business as he followed closely.

Authorities say Encinas showed a gun after the employee ran for safety.

Once the gun was shown, deputies fatally shot Encinas.

No one else at the store was injured.
