PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a chain-reaction crash in Pittsburgh that killed a bicyclist.
Fifty-year-old David Witherspoon also pleaded guilty to accidents involving death while not properly licensed and other counts in the October 2015 crash that killed 34-year-old Susan Hicks.
Authorities said Hicks was riding home from her job as an assistant director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Russian and East European Studies when a vehicle slammed into a car stopped in traffic, and that car pushed Hicks and her bicycle into the back of another vehicle.
Hicks will be sentenced May 18.
