BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Two people have died in a motor vehicle crash in Barre.
Police say it was determined that the driver of a truck ran a red light while speeding and hit a car that was traveling through the intersection on Thursday.
The driver of the car died in the crash. A passenger in the car was taken to hospital and died of injuries from the crash.
The victims’ names have not been released.
The crash happened at the intersection of Route 62 and Berlin Street.
Police say the driver of the truck, 32-year-old Shawn Duprey of Barre, has been arrested on a charge of grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle with death resulting.
It was not immediately known if he is being represented by an attorney.
