BARRE, Vt. (AP) - A man is facing arraignment on charges in the deaths of two people in a vehicle collision in Vermont.

Shawn Duprey is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.

Police say Duprey was driving a truck in Barre that ran a red light while speeding and hit a car traveling through the intersection on Wednesday.

The car driver, Theresa White, died in the crash. A passenger, Verna Cote, was taken to hospital and died of injuries.

It wasn’t immediately known if Duprey had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf. Investigators said his right to drive was suspended in Vermont and that he hadn’t had a license since 2009. He’s charged with two counts of gross negligent operation of a motor vehicle with death resulting.
