NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - An historic church in Natchez will soon commemorate 210 years as a congregation.

The Natchez Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/2lq0KOq) that Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church will celebrate at 11 a.m. March 5 with a communion service followed by a reception. The service will be conducted by Rev. Elias Mederios of the Reformed Theology Seminary.

According to church records, the congregation first met Feb. 25, 1807 in Washington, Mississippi before eventually moving to its current location in Natchez.

A tornado destroyed the church’s building in 1908 and the congregation’s attendance has seen growth and decline - but church member Betty Blanton says it has never closed.

Blanton says all believers are invited to the March 5 celebration.
