JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A man convicted in the 1994 killing of a Mississippi assistant attorney general has died in prison.

A Department of Corrections news release says 40-year-old Robert Lindsey Jr. died Thursday night in the hospital of the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

An autopsy was being done, and the release says no foul play was suspected.

Lindsey was convicted of capital murder in 1997 and sentenced to life in prison in the slaying of 48-year-old Giles Bryant.

The attorney was standing outside a Jackson youth club, waiting for his own son, when he was shot in the chest in May 1994.

Three others who were also teenagers at the time were also indicted on charges of armed robbery and capital murder in the case, but they pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
