WASHINGTON (AP) - Students at a southeast Washington elementary school where bed bugs and rodents were discovered will be temporarily relocated to another school.

D.C. public schools spokeswoman Michelle Lerner said Sunday that Savoy Elementary School would hold class on the campus of Ferebee Hope Elementary School starting Wednesday. The district will provide transportation to and from the new location.

School officials told parents in a letter Friday that workers would thoroughly clean Savoy and replace all soft materials, including rugs, cots, blankets and pillows on Monday and Tuesday. The school would then be inspected by the health department.

It’s unclear exactly how long students will be at the new location.

Students won’t have school Monday and Tuesday, but officials say they can get breakfast, lunch and dinner at Barry Farm Recreation center.
