LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida Panhandle teen is facing charges after stealing a school bus over the weekend.

The Panama City News Herald (https://goo.gl/RCYi4a) reports that the 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday night in the Bay Haven Charter Academy bus.

Lynn Haven police say an officer first spotted the bus on a county road traveling 10 mph below the speed limit. The vehicle was swerving into oncoming traffic and off the road. The officer attempted to pull the bus over, but it accelerated and led officers of a pursuit. The bus eventually stopped, and officers found the boy hiding under a seat near the back.

It wasn’t immediately known how the boy obtained the bus keys.

The boy was being held on multiple charges. School officials have confirmed he attended the school and had a history of disciplinary issues.
