ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Thankfully a new president will be sworn in on Jan. 20. The soon-to-be-former president, elected under the pretense of “hope and change,” will move on to shamefully make undeserved millions of dollars. His tenure was wrought with bigotry, lies, pettiness, party politics, blame, vindictiveness and self-serving decisions.

His legacy will consist of a failed economy; scandals with the Secret Service, Internal Revenue Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Justice, intelligence agencies and the Department of State; the weakening of our country’s defense and global standing; the theft of classified information; the manipulation of labor statistics; the Obamacare failure; and the unnecessary deaths of many of our military, overseas representatives and other citizens. He refused to recognize or accept the Islamic State and placed our country and the world in harm’s way. He divided this great country and continues to harm its fabric as he exits. He has made Americans feel un-American, supported the celebrities and elite and ignored the hard-working people.

As he leaves office, instead of admitting he was responsible for the position our country now faces, the current president continues to blame the Bush administration, all who disagreed with him, world leaders, certain media and a host of others for his failures. Shame on him for his lack of leadership and the weakening of our reputation and status in the world.

FORMER MAYOR DONALD KASPRZAK

Plattsburgh, N.Y.
