NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City say a 43-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a motorist who also ran into five parked cars in Brooklyn.

Officers were dispatched to the borough’s Brownsville section around 6 p.m. Monday following reports of the crash. The victim, who police have identified as Marlon Palacious of Brooklyn, was found lying in the roadway.

Police say the 40-year-old driver of a Nissan Pathfinder first struck two double-parked vehicles before colliding with Palacious. The car continued onward, hitting another three cars before coming to rest.

Palacious was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency responders were unable to revive him.

Police say Palacious had the right-of-way when he was struck. An investigation is ongoing.
