CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - A Pinal County jail inmate who pulled one of his eyeballs out of its socket while in custody has accepted a plea agreement in his case.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2i9U1dW ) that 28-year-old Colin Corkhill on Monday pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault. Charges of attempted murder, theft of means of transportation and resisting arrest were dropped.

Corkhill was arrested on July 29, 2015, after he tried to shoot himself with a Department of Public Safety officer’s gun. Corkhill had been stopped in a median in Casa Grande when the officer approached to assist him. Corkhill then went for the officer’s weapon and fired a shot into the ground before he was restrained.

When in custody, Corkhill pulled his right eyeball out of its socket with his fingers.
