POMONA, Calif. (AP) - Pomona police say a motorcycle officer has been critically injured in a wreck while responding to a separate crash.
KABC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2j2bO6a ) the officer was responding to reports of a pedestrian killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Officials say the officer, a 9-year department veteran, was involved in a collision and hospitalized with a head injury.
Investigators are still on the scene of both crashes.
Police say the pedestrian in the first incident, a man in his 40s or 50s, died at the scene. The driver in that crash initially fled but later returned to the scene.
