BRACKENRIDGE, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man accused of killing his 63-year-old neighbor before stealing her car has agreed to return to Allegheny County to answer to charges.

Jailed in West Virginia, 25-year-old Justin Bartlett waived his extradition hearing there on Tuesday. It’s unclear when Bartlett will be brought back to Pennsylvania for his arraignment in the death of Linda McGinnis and an unrelated assault case.

McGinnis was found dead in her Brackenridge home Dec. 31 with a chop wound to her head and a stab wound to her neck.

Police say Bartlett told detectives that he killed McGinnis and stole her car so he could flee to avoid prosecution in the assault case.

Prosecutors in Marion County, West Virginia, say they have filed paperwork to send Bartlett back to Pennsylvania.

Attorney information for Bartlett was unavailable.
