DETROIT (AP) - A large fire has damaged a bus terminal on Detroit’s east side and could cause service disruptions in the city.

The fire at the Detroit Department of Transportation facility, which includes bus storage, was reported about 1:30 a.m. Friday and burned for several hours. No injuries are reported.

Broadcasters report explosions were heard during the fire and some bus bays collapsed at the Shoemaker Terminal. Detroit Department of Transportation Director Dan Dirks says in a statement that officials believe that fewer than 10 buses were affected.

Dirks says all bus routes will be covered, but some may experience delays. He says DDOT usually has about 200 buses on the road for the morning rush hour period.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
