QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - Police say a Quincy school bus driver wasn’t under the influence but still drove negligently in a crash that injured five elementary school-age children.

The Patriot Ledger reports (https://bit.ly/2jf1zvS ) 58-year-old Mark Woods was arraigned Thursday on charges of negligent driving and leaving marked lanes stemming from the Oct. 25 crash.

Police say Woods was driving a Quincy Public Schools bus carrying 32 students when it crashed into a fire hydrant, telephone pole and SUV before hitting a house.

Woods and five students were treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released that day.

Authorities ruled out mechanical issues as a cause of the crash before citing Woods. A witness told police she’d seen the school bus take an erratic left turn before the crash.

Woods’ attorney declined to comment.
