NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City are searching for a man who pushed a 39-year-old woman to the ground as she was walking in East Harlem earlier this week and raped her on the street.

WNBC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2ijqX3N ) the victim was in the area of East 116th Street and Second Avenue when the suspect crept up behind her and grabbed her around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say the victim did not know her attacker. She was treated at a local hospital on Wednesday.



Police say the suspect is believed to be about 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a mid-length gray jacket.

An investigation is ongoing.
